RUG PADS (Sometimes referred to as 'cushion' or 'underlayment')

As a general rule, every rug should have a pad placed under it.  The main reason for this is to preserve the structural stability of the rug. Pads also provide impact resistance which extends the life of the pile.  Our pads come in 3 styles depending on where the rug is being placed.  Let our expert staff provide professional advice on quality padding that can best suit your area rug or oriental rug underlayment needs.

WUNDERFIRM:  This pad is for area rugs that are put down on top of grout lines in tile mortar joints and on warped hardwood floors. WunderFIRM is 1/4" thick and is fabricated with a polyester fiber (felt) top and a soft rubber backing This backing is designed to provide good non-slip properties and will not leave a mark or damage the floor underneath. In some instances, WunderFIRM may be reversed for area rugs on top of wall-to-wall carpeting.

WUNDERGRIP:  This is our most popular rug pad.  We highly recommend it for use with fine oriental rugs.  This pad protects the rug by providing impact resistance, thus extending the life of the rug pile while also protecting the floor.

WunderGRIP passes the European Union's Green Standard and is guaranteed not to off-gas, making it an excellent choice for allergy sufferers.

The open construction of this pad allows the rug to breathe, evaporating moisture immediately.  Dirt and dust particles fall to the floor into the holes of the construction where they sit until removed and cannot abrade the foundation of the rug or the floor beneath.  WunderGRIP is also washable. Small pads can be put in the washing machine.  Larger ones can be hosed down or brought to our plant for cleaning.

WUNDERLOCK:   This rug pad is guaranteed to hold any rug on wall-to-wall carpet and will add to the life of both the rug and the carpet by reducing friction.  It is made with a dry adhesive that will adhere to any textile surface but is not transferable and is non-aggressive.  It is specially knitted so as not to leave fibers on wall-to-wall carpet or on the bottom of the area rug.  The WunderLOCK pad is applied to the bottom of the rug but once it is removed, it loses its ability to adhere.  Thus, it will need to be replaced each time the rug is cleaned in our plant.

Our ABC Spotter can be used on most surfaces to remove those extra hard to get liquid spots and spills.  Just follow the directions on the bottle.  In addition, you can download your free copy of the ABC Carpet & Rug Spotting Guide for directions on how to use ordinary household solutions to get out most spots and spills before they get a chance to become permanent stains.  Just click here.

We carry this product in a 12 oz. spray bottle, the perfect size for tackling red wine stains on your rugs, as well as carpet, clothes or furniture.  It is safe to use around children and pets, has a fresh citrus scent, contains no bleach or phosphates, is biodegradable, and can even remove other tough stains such as coffee, blood, ink, juice and even pet stains.

With this tool, you will never again have to worry about fraying or pulling the fringes off your rugs with your vacuum cleaner.  NOTE: Please remember always to vacuum area rugs with fringes from side to side (opposite the fringes).  After vacuuming the body of the rug, use the Fringe Rake to remove the soil from the fringes and also to straighten them.  And...this special rake is just the right height so you don't have to bend over to use it!

This is the same product that is used as a protective barrier for wrapping homes during constuction.  Wool rugs must be allowed to "breathe" but must also be protected from liquid or insect damage while in storage.

A rug should be cleaned before it is wrapped and stored and should be placed in an environment which is similar to the one in which you live.  Since wool can hold up to 30% of its weight in moisture and still feel dry to the touch, it is best to avoid damp or humid areas for storage in order to avoid mold and mildew problems setting in over time.  For long periods of storage it is prudent to periodically unwrap and unroll the rug to check its condition.
